Green Tour of Little Rock
Little Rock is on the forefront of the "GREEN" movement. From environmentally friendly buildings, to wildlife areas, our city has much to show the world about recycling, adapting to the surroundings and community involvement in making the world a better place. The tour will include the Heifer International Headquarters, with it's environmentally friendly construction promoting sustainability in our everyday lives. Heifer International is a world-wide hunger relief organization founded in 1930. Other green buildings include the headquarters of Winrock International, a non-profit organization that supports sustainable development, and the 2,000 acres of the Audubon Nature Centre at Gillam Park.
Explore Little Rock, the capitol city at the heart of the state by viewing the Old State House Museum. Having served as Arkansas' State Capitol from 1836 until 1911, this building now serves as a museum of Arkansas history with exhibits including the First Ladies' ball gowns. Next you'll experience the Historic Arkansas Museum located on the site where the first territorial government met as well as some of the oldest structures in Little Rock. History is interpreted through portrayals of actual figures as you are guided among 13 structures. The Arkansas State Capitol will highlight your tour as a granite and marble replica of the U.S. Capitol featuring bronze doors and Tiffany chandeliers.
Gardens Tour of Little Rock
You don't have to have a green thumb to enjoy the spectacular gardens of Little Rock. We'll start with a visit to North Little Rock's Old Mill that was featured in the opening Credits of "Gone With The Wind" with it's spectacular display of flowers, shrubbery, and native trees. You'll also get a rare opportunity to visit Moss Mountain, the home of TV's gardening expert P.Allen Smith, and acres of country gardening at it's finest. Last stop is the picturesque grounds of the Arkansas Governor's Mansion.
